Caretaker

I first started coming with painful problematic feet from wearing safety boots. They are now pain free and I’ve got new lease of life.  The staff are always pleasant and it’s a nice environment to be in. Lisa came highly recommended by a colleague at work.

FAQs for Chapeltown Foot Clinic

A podiatry clinic specialises in diagnosing, treating, and preventing foot conditions. Care is generally split into three areas:

  • General Foot Care – This includes treatment for corns, calluses, and ingrown toenails, as well as orthotics to help correct gait issues, and relieve pain.
  • Surgical Treatment – This includes complete or partial nail removal for Ingrowing nails or thickened nails as well as steroid injections for certain painful conditions.
  • Preventive Care – We provide specialised care for patients with diabetes, as well as focussing on footwear advice to prevent and manage foot problems.

Podiatrists are specialists in footcare and so we are trained to help our patients with a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions. You name it and we’ve probably seen it, and helped someone with it, before.

The conditions we help people with include simple problems like corns, callous, fungal infections and verrucae, through to more complex issues like ingrowing toenails, plantar fasciitis, arthritis, tendonitis, diabetic foot care, structural and gait abnormalities.

A Podiatrist in the UK trains for a minimum of 3 years to gain a BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry.

Throughout their career podiatrists must also complete Continued Professional Development training and studies each year, to keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date. This CPD is a requirement for maintaining their professional HCPC registration.

You can check to see if your podiatrist is fully qualified in one of three ways:

  1. Confirm they are registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).
  2. Check for membership in the Royal College of Podiatry or other relevant professional bodies.
  3. Ensure they have a degree in podiatry and qualifications for any additional specialisations they claim.

Yes of course 😁 Podiatrists are trained to assess, diagnose and treat a huge range of foot problems. So if you’re struggling with a foot related problem, visiting a Podiatrist is going to be a great first step – no pun intended.
